Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday the 3rd of September here in New Zealand (I know it is different in other parts of the world). So I’m excited to time the release of my new fitted Men’s beanie I for a quick make as a Fathers Day gift.
My husband is very particular about his beanies, he likes the fitted style but hates it when they come down to far on his forehead. So we spent a lot of time getting the fit perfect on him, I don’t think he has taken it off since I completed it. After getting the pattern tested I have also included it in 3 sizes small, medium and large.
I used Broadway DK Merino which is lovely and soft and has no itch to it, but being Merino still keeps you nice and warm. Colours in the picture are Sage with grey stripe.
It is a top down beanie in a double crochet stitch, the stripes are single crochet pulling it tighter around the bottom of the beanie. The gauge is important to get right on this one so please do a swatch first to get correct fit. The gauge is 16 Double crochet stitches by 9 rows is 10 x 10cm.
