Last year the kids classes were structured to make a small plushie in one class over two hours. It was quite hard to come up with patterns small enough to finish in one class and also to finish in time especially the kids just starting out. I also found it hard to spend time improving their technique when we were under pressure to finish the piece.
So I have changed up the formula this year introducing the Kids Crochet Club. Your child can choose to work on anything they like during this time it might be a scarf or a beanie or one of the new bigger plushie animal designs I have come up with.
These classes will be on my schedule much more regularly after school most Thursdays in Masterton and also Saturdays in Lower Hutt, Wellington and Palmerston North. You do not have to commit to all of them just book your child in for the dates that suit when they need help. To attend this class your child needs to have been already crocheting with me last year or attended one of my beginner classes first ages 9 years plus. If your child has learnt crochet from someone else and wants to join just send me an email first so we can discuss what level they are at.
With working on one project over a series of classes yarn will no longer be included in the class cost as you will not need yarn every time you come. You can email me with what your child would like to make, then I can print out correct pattern and advise on yarn selection. Doing it this way means I could reduce the class price, included in price is pattern, safety eyes, stuffing and small amounts of yarn to add the extras like bow, bag, scarf, muzzle, ears and nose.
For the bigger plushie patterns I do have some chenille yarn in stock but you will be limited to what colours I have at the time of the class. You can pay for the yarn adding the yarn purchase option under kids classes.
Or if your child would like to select their own colours you can purchase direct from Flock of Knitters we use the Premier Parfait Chunky Chenille yarn pictured below. They will only need one ball to complete the Bunny or the Bear pattern. Use this link to purchase your yarn https://inviteee.to/i/Gsr96
