If you have been thinking about learning to crochet and want to know where to begin then this is the blog post for you.
The crochet season with Bonfire Crafts starts in March which leads us into the colder months where most people take up the hobby. At this time of year I start running my beginner classes (although you can book private beginner lessons with me through summer if you wish to start earlier).
Please note I happy to teach left or right handed people for any of my classes or projects
The beginner class is designed for anyone that has never picked up a crochet hook before or maybe has in the past but forgotten the basics. In this class you will learn:
- How to hold a crochet hook
- Create a slip knot to attach yarn to your hook
- How to do a chain stitch to start your work
- Learn the single crochet stitch
- Understand turning chains
- How to change colours
- Learn the double crochet Stitch
- How to fasten off your work and weave in ends
A beginner class is two hours long and I try and keep it to a maximum of 6 people so I have time to help everyone individually. Once you have completed the beginner class you are free to book into any of the project classes that I have listed. If you are unsure about what to book you can email me first to check.
